Note Takers
Students who use this accommodation are instructed by personnel at the Disabled Student
Services office to contact their instructors before or on the first day of class. The
instructor will be asked to announce that the office of Disabled Student Services needs
a volunteer note taker for the class. The instructor will be provided with an instruction
sheet and a brief paragraph to read to the class in an effort to solicit volunteers.
The note taking accommodation is not a replacement for class attendance. Except in rare
and unusual cases, students with disabilities who fail to attend do not have a right to
lecture notes.
